Review: If I Stay

If I Stay
By: Gayle Forman
Release Date:

Description:
In a single moment, everything changes. Seventeen-year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall riding along the snow-wet Oregon road with her family. Then, in a blink, she finds herself watching as her own damaged body is taken from the wreck...

A sophisticated, layered, and heart-achingly beautiful story about the power of family and friends, the choices we all make, and the ultimate choice Mia commands.

Review:
This story was heart breaking, sweet, and made you think about life and how things can change at the drop of a hat.  Very emotional read, that is for sure.

Mia and her family are an eclectic bunch, all are musicians in one way or another.  The parents are cool hip parents who love music and have that different style about them.  Her younger brother Teddy is just a great brother overall.  There is also her best friend Kim who will be there for her no matter what and her boyfriend Adam.  The unexpected couple who just get each other.

One snow covered day (everything in town closes) the family decides to take a drive out to see Mia's grandparents.  Something happens along the way and there is a huge accident.  Mia is now experiencing everything outside of her body.  She is watching as the paramedics take her to the ER, the surgeons do surgery on her.  And now as the family she has left come to visit her.

Throughout the book she reminisces about things that have happened in the past.  How she feels about her friends and family and I'm not going to lie I'm tearing up just thinking about the whole situation right now.  It was a really good book. So much has happened in such a short span of time, how do you deal with that?

So I have to ask you would you stay or would you go?

You still have family.
