Sepcials

Specials
by Scott Westerfeld
The third book in this series is even more intense. After being caught by Special Circumstances - they turn Tally into one of the Cutters, a new breed of Specials. But Zane was left behind and after taking the pill that killed the nanos he was starting to deteriorate. So Tally and Shay come up with a plan to get him out to the New smoke so they can make him better. That's where the adventure starts and I don't want to say too much about it but Tally is really special in so many ways she doesn't even realize it. It is a great continuation to the store and I'm off to find out what happens in the next book.

Pretties

Pretties
by Scott Westerfeld

After I finished the first book in the series I had to go out and get the rest so this is the second book and it did not disappoint. Tally's adventures continued on as a Pretty now where she tries to remember her life in the smoke and what is right and what is wrong. She meets Zane the leader of the Crims who helps her find a letter of consent that she had sent herself to take the cure because being pretty comes at a price. Both take a pill thinking it will have the same affect but it doesn't and Tally gets them out to the smoke. It's a great adventure and one I would love to see on the big screen.

Tempted
by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

Another great book in the series but omg the book really left me wanting more not in a bad way more like i want to know what is going to happen next and i don't want to wait until may of next year. It was great, it told you a lot of things and bought in new character perspectives. What I really love is how everyone hopes and prays that evil will make the right choice and turn into good. I really don't want to go into too much detail about the book in case you haven't read it yet, but it was great and I think one of my favorite characters right now is Rephiam and I just really want to learn more about him and see what's going to happen I can only imagine the good things that are going to come in the next book. Until May with this series.

Uglies

Uglies
by Scott Westerfeld

I'm not one for the whole sci-fi thing but I like a good book and sometimes it's good to veer off the beaten path. i tried this book out, I've had it for a while (since the summer) but haven't really touched it because I tried to read it while on vacation and yeah I was too busy basking in the sun and waves so I never got around to it. Finally I said what the heck and am I ever so happy that I did. I really really enjoyed the book a lot to the point where I went right out and bought the rest of the books in the series because I just have to know what happens. I finished this book a couple days ago but I've been slacking in the blogging department for some time now. The book reminds me a lot of trying to create a utopian society by manufacturing people to a certain ideal (does that make sense?) anyway I love the book and can't wait to find out next!!!

Maneater

Maneater
by Gigi Levangie Grazer

This book was great it was very fast paced and really makes you want to see what's going to happen next. Imagine living in California trying to date and marry a rich guy and then once you finally do everything just goes downhill because life just loves to throw you a couple curve balls. Great read, loved it and really wished I had seen the miniseries on TV when they had it but I did put it on my dvd queue so hopefully one day it will come out so I can compare. Really great book

Happy Birthday or Whatever: Track Suits, Kim Chee, and Other Family Disasters

Happy Birthday or Whatever: Track Suits, Kim Chee, and Other Family Disasters
by Annie Choi

This book took a little longer to read only cause I only had time during lunch which isn't that much time to begin with. But I finally finished it end of last week. I've just been slacking in writing about it, not because I didn't like the book but because well I haven't had time. So about the book it's a memoir about a Korean woman and her family. There are some cute stories in here, I didn't find it as hilarious as some of the other reviews but that might be because I'm not Korean. All in all good book.

Elsewhere

Elsewhere
by Garbielle Zevin

This is the first book by this author that I have read and it will not be the last. The idea of this book was great, Lizzie just died and it tells of her going to another place called Elsewhere where people live after they die instead of getting older or staying the same age they get younger and when they become babies they go back to Earth and are reborn. It's a great story about a girl realizing that she was happy in life and can also be happy in death. I think if I was ever to die I really do hope there is an Elsewhere out there. Fascinating tale and in my opinion very touching at times.

The Secrets of Peaches
by Jodi Lynn Anderson
So here is the second book - and I'm totally ready to read the last book once I buy it of course. So this book continued the story of Birdie, Leeda and Murphy. Birdie discovers more about love and the love that is around her - also what's up with Poopie. Murphy finally comes to the realization that she is full of fear but she knows that she can overcome it. Leeda turns within herself and doesn't know how to handle everything other than to just push everyone out. But she will come to realize that in the end she really does need other people. I love this book it really does remind me of the The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants - or books along those subject lines.

Peaches

Peaches
by Jodi Lynn Anderson
This book is about three very different girls who find long lasting friendship between all three of them. There is the quiet one, the troublemaker and the prefect one, they all spend a summer working on a peach orchard. Helping each other through family issues, boy trouble, friendship problems. It's a really great read, so good that I went out and bought the second book today which I'm going to start right now, "The Secrets of Peaches".

The Pursuit of Happiness

The Pursuit of Happiness
by Tara Altebrando
This book is about a girl who is working through the summer at a reenactment type place of the colonial times. It just so happens that her mother dies at the beginning of a long journey of cancer and this book describes how everyone is affected by this even in different ways and how they deal with it. From a boyfriend who leaves her, to finding a friend in the least expected person, her father checking out, her best friend leaving her hanging. There are many great scenes in this book and I really didn't want it to end at all. The interaction between James and the main character were great. Many different topics in this book all a great read.

Cruel Summer

Cruel Summer
By Alyson Noel

This was actually a really fun read. It was told through a series of journal entries, emails, blogs, and letters. It's about a girl who's parents are getting a divorce so they ship her off to Greece for the summer. She is so upset because she didn't want to go anywhere especially since she just got into the "in" crowd. Well throughout her story she learns that mo matter what happens in her life some things are just not in her control and no matter what she will still be fine afterwards. It's a really great story and by the end I really couldn't put the book down I had to to is it before I left the house to go to a party, that's how much I wanted to finish the book.

Take Me There

Take Me There
by Susane Colasanti

This is the second book I've read written by this author and it wouldn't necessarily be the last either. It didn't hit me as much as the first probably because I felt there were many story plots going on at the same time that I just kept wanting to focus on only one of them. The book is told by three different perspectives in two different parts. It's a good read but I was hoping for a little more. It's hard to keep jumping from perspective to perspective but repeating the same scene over again, I like it to keep flowing and not going back to the beginning with another point of view. Don't get me wrong I liked the book but I like to go with the flow more continuous and not backtracking.

Lucky Streak

Lucky Streak
by Carly Phillips

This is the second in her series of the Corwin Men - the first one was "Lucky Break" which was about Derek Corwin seeing his first love again and rekindling that closeness. The premis of the Corwin Men series is that the Corwin men are destined to be unlucky in love, when they fall in love bad things seem to happen to the women in their lives. Mike is a cop and meets Amber in Vegas, where they have a quickie marraige and it goes from there. She's running away from some men (cons) and follows him home to Boston. It's always hard to learn to trust another person especially when trust is gone in the first few moments of meeting one another. This was another great story by Carly Phillips, I have always enjoyed her stories. Funny thing is it's Oprah who introduced me to her with "The Heartbreaker". Good fun light summer read, romance. If only life was really like that.

Perfect Chemistry

Perfect Chemistry
by Simone Elkeles

This book was definitely a quick fun and easy read. I couldn't put this book down I think I read it in like two or three days, (would have been shorter but I only have so many free hours a day). It was a very cute story about the bad boy and the good girl getting together. When Alex would talk to Brittany it was like they were in their own world. It's a timeless story like Romeo and Juliet, or Sandy and Danny (the second one sounds more like the book and is even referenced in there). It was a good book and I could definitely see it all in my head and didn't want it to end.

Along for the Ride

Along For the Ride
by Sarah Dessen

I have read every single book by Sarah Desson and like each one for different reasons. This book was great just like all the others. It's about a girl who moves in with her dad for the summer. Only to finally learn to let loose and learns how to live life finally. Life is not all about work work work but it's also about playing and having a good time and learning and doing new things that is what this book is about. Great summer read, can't wait to see what she comes up with in her next book.

13 Little Blue Envelopes

13 Little Blue Envelopes

by Maureen Johnson

This books was super cute. I would love to go on an adventure the way she did. The premise of the book is after her grandmother died "Ginny" was sent on an adventure every time she would complete a task she would open the next envelope to see where she would end up next. She started out in England and went all over the European countries, again another adventure I would love to go on. This book was all about finding yourself and thinking outside the box doing things you wouldn't normally book. It was a cute fun quick easy read, great for the summer.

Hunted

Hunted
by PC Cast & Kristin Cast
This is the fifth book of the House of Night series and I'm totally addicted, I don't really want to give much away. Here's the synopsis of he book:
At the start of this heart-pounding new installment of the bestselling House of Night series, Zoey's friends have her back again and Stevie Rae and the red fledglings aren't Neferet's secrets any longer. But an unexpected danger has emerged. Neferet guards her powerful new consort, Kalona, and no one at the House of Night seems to understand the threat he poses. Kalona looks gorgeous, and he has the House of Night under his spell. A past life holds the key to breaking his rapidly spreading influence, but what if this past life shows Zoey secrets she doesn't want to hear and truths she can't face?
On the run and holed up in Tulsa's Prohibition-era tunnels, Zoey and her gang must discover a way to deal with something that might bring them all down. Meanwhile, Zoey has a few other little problems. The red fledglings have cleaned up well--they've even managed to make the dark, creepy tunnels feel more like home--but are they really as friendly as they seem? On the boyfriend front, Zoey has a chance to make things right with super-hot ex-, Eric, but she can't stop thinking about Stark, the archer who died in her arms after one unforgettable night, and she is driven to try to save him from Neferet's sinister influence at all costs. Will anyone believe the power evil has to hide among us?
You really have to read the books hey are a great series, they are no really for young readers but they are definetly great books. I can't wait for the next one which is coming out in October. there are still things that need to be solved in the book but I can totally see this being a tv show or even a movie like twilight just because there is so much more action and stuff going on than there was in the twilight series and these books seem more reality (well as far as vampires go) than in twilight. the main character is not so desperate and pathetic (don't get me wrong i LOVE the Twilight series sooo much). But the main character Zoey is more realistic in her life and the men and friends that she has to deal with. I just love the book and can't wait for the next one.

Love the One You're With

Love the One You're With
I haven't read a book like this in a very long time. Usually I totally love chick lit, but this book was really really hard to get into. It didn't start getting good to me until the end of the middle of the book. It kind of dragged and I think took me way too long to read because I didn't feel like reading it at home. It wasn't a can't put you down kind of book. This is the first I've read of this author and it was just too wordy for me and I just couldn't connect with any of the characters they all seemed I don't know one dimensional and predictable. Not a book I would pick up again.

Between The Tides

Between The Tides
by Patti Callahan Henry

This is the book I am currently ready, which I only have time to read during lunch which is only a few minutes not enough time to get into it as much as possible, but as I leave my book in my car I find myself wondering what emotion Cappy is going to feel next. The book so far is good. I've seen that people read it in a short period of time (one said 2 hours now seriously I just can't appreciate a book in only 2 hours). It is definitely a quick read and a good story. It's about a girl who went through a tragic death of a friend in her younger years and blames herself for it. She hasn't returned to the place it happened until after her father passes away and requests that she throw his ashes to the place she never wanted to go to. We see Catherine (Cappy) Leary learn new things about her family and friends that she didn't know exist and in that she learns to let things go and finally let herself feel again.
