Because of Sydney
By: T.A. Foster
Release Date: August 27, 2015

Description:
Determined to establish a new life far from the ghosts of her past, twenty-two year old Sydney Paige is willing to try anything to launch her reporting career and quiet the painful memories of her family back home.

Money-driven Mason Lachlan knows exactly what he wants in life and how to get it. Nothing stands in the way of the successful millionaire’s next deal, not even the deeply-buried anguish he feels from being abandoned by his father and tucked away as a dark family secret.

When Sydney must report the biggest land deal to hit South Padre in years, Mason becomes the focus of her story. Problems surface when their undeniable attraction for each other compromises everything they both have worked for.

Can love exist when bottom lines and deadlines collide?

Review:
We’ve met Mason previously in the Kissing Eden series and he was always an interesting character.  It was nice to finally see him again and introduce new people to him, someone who can finally tame that playboy status he lived by.  T.A. Foster never disappoints in any of the books I’ve read by her and this was definitely on the same path.  Not only was there a good story but there were also some very lovely private scenes between the two main characters while still being very tasteful.

We meet Sydney who is an up and coming journalist and on the verge of a great story about a company who is taking over the cove and planning to build a resort, who just happens to be Mason.  This is how they meet and there is an interest there even if Mason doesn’t want there to be.  One thing leads to another and their attraction is undeniable.  All it took was a few margaritas before things got out of hand and they threw caution to the wind.  I’m telling you tequila can be dangerous when it comes to human interactions.

Mason definitely begins fighting the attraction from the very beginning constantly saying how it is just pure fun and nothing more but he catches feelings quite quickly and unexpectedly that it even surprises him.  There is a lot of talk about their jobs and their conflicts of interest but the two make it work for a while on the fun side, until things aren’t fun anymore.  The two are really great together go and everyone around them can definitely see the changes but they face some challenges that they have to work through together.

I love some of the scenes in the books like the bonfire scene.  I really need to find a beach that offers this because it always seem so much fun and it was really great revisiting characters from the Kissing Eden Series, because they were always so much fun.

Overall the book was great, another great addition to T.A. Foster’s library and it was a quick and easy read that kept you interested from the beginning to the end.  The cover is very cute and eye catching because I would pick it up just to see what it was about.

About Anything More Than Now

Reagan Landry is months away from college graduation, but instead of excitement, she’s frozen by the fear of letting go — of her ex-boyfriend, of the comfortable life she created for herself in Portland, of the years-long search for her older sister who abandoned her as a homeless teen. When she’s finally forced to decide what’s next, Reagan is met with another complication — her ex’s best friend, Noah Burke, who seems determined that she embraces what could be instead of what has been.

Drunkenly hooking up with his best friend’s ex, Reagan, is a mistake, but being secretly in love with her is so much worse when things seem one-sided. A disenchanted frat boy about to fail out of college, Noah has been living out someone else’s dream after a horrible accident five years earlier. Just when he thinks he’s lost any chance he has with Reagan, she surprises him by agreeing to spend the summer together at his family’s ranch in Montana.

And suddenly what started out as a complication between them becomes serious...until the past starts ripping apart their future.

Exclusive Excerpt:
Dusk settles over us, and inky light veils Reagan’s tanned body. She smiles back at me over her shoulder, her hand clutched tightly in mine as she leads us through the cool grass of the field. I study the line of her back from her cropped top and those denim shorts of hers. She’s curves and soft sweeping lines, no angles tonight. I’m convinced her barefoot on a summer night might be the sexiest thing yet.
“Are you sure you want to go back?” she asks. Maybe she asks twice because she stops and tugs me closer. “Noah?”
I brush the back of my hand against my forehead, my skin sticky from working on the house all day. My body feels stretched and alive after the work, like a good runner’s high except this is bone deep. I want to kiss her so badly. Instead I take her hand and twirl her in a slow circle so her hair fans out and brushes over her sun-kissed shoulders.
If I could keep her, if we could have more than this moment, I think everything in life would work out finally. Realistically, I know we can’t have anything more than now. And I plan to make the most of it.
Reagan shimmies her hips, her hands up in the air as she lets go and dances. Fireflies flicker around her, the moon is finally up in the sky, and the Montana night has fully settled in. Between crickets and my heart beat, it’s just her softly humming to herself as she dances for me.
I reach out and hook my fingers inside the waist of her shorts and drag her against me. She gazes up dreamily, still humming, her eyes wide and sleepy.
“I love you,” I whisper. The words fall out and as soon I as hear them leave my mouth, I stiffen.
Her hand skirts up my bare chest and curls around the back of my neck. “What a perfectly dumb thing to say about a girl like me.”
I smile because she’s not backing away. Judging by her smile, she’s teasing, so I take my chances and press on. “I think it’s a perfectly true thing to say to you.”
“Tell me, Noah, how does a girl like me respond to that? From a boy like you?” She pushes up to the balls of her feet and kisses my chin, scratching her nails along the back of my neck, and I’m so instantly turned on. Completely. Her lips spread into a smile over my jaw as she feels me hard against her middle.
“I want today to last forever,” she says, her breath warm over my skin. She slides her body closer, her hands growing greedy. “Tell me we have a thousand more days like today.”

I could lie. Holy hell, do I want to lie, but my lips meet hers instead and I kiss her until the truth is there, until we both know we can’t because her life is going one way and mine another, if at all. We have tonight and another week and maybe emails or texts later. We don’t have anything permanent and maybe that’s why I told her what I did. Maybe that’s why she doesn’t run away.

Review: Blackmail Boyfriend by Chris Cannon

Blackmail Boyfriend
By: Chris Cannon
Release Date: August 11, 2015

Description:
Sometimes, blackmail is the only weapon a girl has…

Haley Patterson has had a crush on golden boy Bryce Colton for ages. But when she hears a rumor that he hooked up with her she gives him a choice: be her boyfriend for a month to show other guys that she’s dateable—despite her overprotective and very intimidating brothers—or deal with the angry, cage-fighting boyfriend of the girl he actually did hook up with.

Bryce didn’t know the other Haley even had a boyfriend. He was just trying to get his ex off his back. And now, not only is he being blackmailed, he's being blackmailed by an honor student. His new “girlfriend” has two three-legged dogs, her father mows grass at the country club, and she's…well, difficult. And different.

Can something so fake turn into something real?

Review:
This was a super cute book that I had to read as quickly as possible because I wanted to know what happened next.  It just had adorable characters that you couldn’t help rooting for, sometimes blackmailing works out in the positive note, sometimes.  Depends on what is being blackmailed.

So we meet Haley who was used by someone else so they wouldn’t get in trouble, which leads everyone in school to believe she hooked up with the cutest guy in school.  Of course not being true she confronts him and one thing leads to another she decided to play along with this for a while.  At least so her brothers will let up on the overprotectiveness so she can actually start dating people.  Bryce, he’s a very popular kid and very much has more money than most along with his best friend Jake who really does have more money than everyone in town.  Throw in Jane who is this quirky outspoken best friend to Haley and you have quite the foursome.

I loved every time Jane spoke because she seemed the realest, and just like the perfect best friend, definitely someone you want on your side always.  Let’s not forget all the cupcakes, super yum and definitely made me want to have some.  Even though I didn’t because Jane wasn’t there to make them for me lol.  So it’s cute to see these four people all so different from one another grow interest and start to become true friends.  It was sweet, and you never know it could really happen it all depends on you.

Overall I thought the story was cute, and it was a sweet read, very crush worthy.  I love the cover because it too was sweet and very innocent like the main character Haley.  She was adorable just wanted to put her in my pocket.  She was small after all.  Bryce too grew on me but in the beginning he was just too much rich boy you know.  Read it, it’s worth it.  Great quick fun summer read.

She doesn't want to give in to it—especially since he has no idea how they're connected—but their time together has made Quinn feel alive again. No matter how hard she’s falling for Colton, each beat of his heart reminds her of all she’s lost…and all that remains at stake.

Review:
I have read one book by Jessi Kirby in the past, and have been meaning to read another by her but this book by far I thought was amazing in every way.  Jessi Kirby really knows how to bring you into a story line and feel every little part.  This book gave me hope and even though it was mentioned literally in the book I feel like these two hearts were just destined to be connected forever.  Its fate at least that is what I will believe in my own heart.

We meet Quinn who has lost her boyfriend and is on a mission to communicate with all the donors who received pieces of him.  She has rules set for herself that she will not get involved or break her rules and meet the one who received Trent’s heart (as he is the only one who hasn’t responded back to her), but she does accidentally sort of, it’s really sweet how they meet, even a little funny.  Talk about interesting and unexpected really, and the sunflower can I just say how much I absolutely love sunflowers!  You have to read the book to know what I’m talking about but believe me you will not be disappointed.  Their meeting alone or second meeting or all meetings are just fun to read.

Colton, the heart recipient, is just trying to move on with his life and try to forget that anything happened to him.  As difficult as that is, but with his carefree attitude he helps Quinn rediscover herself as she learns to start letting go and living again.  Colton is a breath of fresh air with his adventurous tendencies, and although some may not be as safe as you would think there is something about him that is contagious.  He’s sweet and thoughtful; you can’t help but fall in love with him too.  Their relationship is sweet and sure it’s based on some lies or well omissions of how they really know each other, that’s just an added bonus to see how much they really mean to each other in the end.

Overall I really loved this book, it was amazing, had me smiling, crying, laughing and just going on their little adventures with them and feeling amazed.  It was beautiful and I hope you can pick it up and read it, because not only was it beautifully written but it’s also a great quick read to bring you sadness and joy.  Love the cover, the characters just everything about this book.  Will definitely be reading more of Jessi Kirby’s books.

Review: The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

Brimming with heartfelt relationships and authentic high-school dynamicsThe Start of Me and You proves that it’s never too late for second chances.

But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max, moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!) her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to live?

Review:
The Start of Me and you was emotional, sweet, endearing and just an overall experience of family, friends and dealing with loss and moving on.  The characters were real and relatable and the story was about as real as can be.  It was tough reading this in some parts because I just went through a loss of a family member not too long ago so I could completely relate with the main character and this book literally brought me to tears at some points.  I enjoyed it from beginning to end and couldn’t help but yell at the main character sometimes.

We meet Paige who had recently within the past year lost her boyfriend, they may not have been going out that long but it’s still something unexpected and at a young age it’s hard to deal with loss of someone your own age.  Well really, it’s hard to deal with loss in general.  Paige comes back to school with a set goal to make improvements in her life.  Some not so realistic but still those goals lead her to better things in life.  She forms new friendships, rekindles the strong bond between own friendships and learns to move on with her life, no matter how hard it is.

She meets Max, well he reintroduces himself back into her life, since he was there before but has moved back and with their new found strong friendship they build a bond with one another.  Although I will say a couple of times I had to yell at Paige and wonder how she could be so completely clueless to the way Max was feeling about her.  I think it’s her one tracked mind of trying to accomplish her goals for the year which included going out with Max’s cousin, Ryan.  But regardless of that between Max, Ryan and her already existing friendships they make quite a new group with one another and they all lean on one another.  It’s sweet and endearing and I wish I had a set of best friends the way she does.  They are necessary in life sometimes.

There were some family issues as well that was dealt with in this book, not something that happens to often but it happens.  When two parents’ divorce and then start dating each other once again.  It’s hard to deal with but they do they best they can.  And can I say, grandma, love her.  You’ll have to read it to find out what I’m talking about but man is it worth the read.  Really heartfelt relationships in this book.  Will bring you to tears and make you smile with them all.

Overall this book was great, it had a little bit of everything and all very relatable.  I love the cover although I think I would have put them more at the pool or something, just to relate to the book a little more, but I get it.  The cover is catchy and will definitely make you pick this up to read the description.  I loved it.

Review:
Talk about an intense emotional roller coaster ride that I was not ready to get off of.  Nazarea Andrews introduced me to a group of people that pulled me into their lives from the very beginning.  When tragedy strikes there are only so many options for you to take, but sometimes even if it’s hard it’s all worth it in the end.

I was mesmerized by the intensity of these characters, their strong bond with one another making the four of them one strong family that each other needed. A family that was made stronger because each of them chose one another and it wasn’t one made out of obligation.  We were first introduced to Peyton right after getting into an accident and losing all her memories.  Throughout the book it was told from perspective of before the accident and after.  It’s always tough when something tragic happens to anyone but I always believe it’s how you deal with it that matters.

Rike, Peyton’s man is trying really hard to give her space until the time she finally realizes who she is and what they are to one another.  It’s definitely not easy for him or Lindsey and Scott because they too were affected in this accident that happened to Peyton and Lindsey.  It’s just really tough all around.  I wouldn’t mind seeing this from Lindsey and Scott’s perspective either. Would be interesting to learn more about them and just hear it firsthand.

Not only were the characters and their story very intense but so were there intimate moments, very intense, strong, freeing for both of them.  I know I was very surprised when I first started reading those parts but still it was interesting and kept me more into the story because it really was true to each of their characters.

Overall this was a great quick intense ride that you will enjoy and want more from in the end.  You just couldn’t help but root for these people to succeed after the hands they were dealt with in life.  Great book, first time reading this author and I would definitely pick up another one to see if it’s just as good as this one was.
