4. Stephan King - I think he could make our thanksgiving exciting, his mind is just twisted and brilliant lol.

6. Elizabeth Scott - Just to meet someone who can go from a book like Something Maybe to something completely different like Living Dead Girl.  It's like she's all over the place but even though it's dark then light it's still so interesting.

7. Stephanie Meyer - I know, I can't help but like Twilight I want to know if she really thinks the actors who play the parts in her book are who she really wanted.

8. William Shakespeare - I just want to know if he really did write all those plays, because really sometimes you just have to wonder.

9. Edgar Allan Poe - because why not.

10. Cecily Von Ziegesar - because I NEED to know who gossip girl is!!!

Review: Silence

Silence
By Becca Fitzpatrick
Release Date: October 4, 2011
Series: Hush Hush

Description:
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.

Review:
Initially what drew me to this series were the covers on these books.  They are amazing.  I love black and white pictures and these were just fabulous.  This is the third book in the series, it took me a minute to remember what happened in the previous books not because they were unforgettable but because I've been reading way too much lately.  So we are back again in Nora's world.  At the end of Crescendo she was kidnapped, Chauncey was dead by her hand, and the Black Hand was after her.  The Black Hand as we know just happens to be her biological father, and now her mother's new boyfriend.  But Nora doesn't remember any of this, she doesn't even remember Patch only the black of his eyes and hair.  Hank (aka the Black Hand) has erased her memory trying to keep from her the fact that he was the one who kidnapped her.  Vee, her best friend isn't 100% honest with her and her mom is the same, because neither wants to mention Patch.

The book moves along with Nora slowly remembering things, well mostly about Patch and he helps her to fill in the gaps.  During this time she must pretend she doesn't know what's really going on with Hank while he's dating her mom, it's not the easiest thing but she is managing.  Hank is planning for the Nephilim to wage war with the Fallen Angels before Cheshvan, in the end Nora and Patch are successful in bringing him down but still it seems that a war is unavoidable.  No matter that the archangels have made a deal with Patch and Nora, or that Hank is no longer the leader of the Nephilim, war is coming.  And we won't see what side everyone is on until the next book which comes out in 2012.

Really I thought this was the end, Nora and Patch (both immortals now) finally together, but nope the story continues.  What will happen next?

Review: Drink Deep

Drink Deep
By: Chloe Neill
Release Date: November 1, 2011
Series: Chicagoland Vampires

Description:
Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven't been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.

That's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.
Chicago's mayor insists it's nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She'll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who's behind this, and stop them before it's too late for vampires and humans alike.

Review:
This is the fifth installment to the Chicagoland Vampires series, and it did not disappoint.  Last we left off our beloved Master of Cadogan House was killed.  That in itself was a shocker to all fans, because really how can you have Merit without Ethan?  Which brings us to Drink Deep.  In this book Merit is trying her hardest to get over Ethan and move on, but it's not as easy as it sounds.  Especially when weird things start happening around Chicago.  First the lake turned black - could it be the nymps?  Then the Sky turned blood red - could it be the fairies?  Then the earth shook and mountains erupted through the street - who could be doing this?

Throughout the whole book you see Jonah's admiration for Merit grow to where they even shared a kiss, but alas it's too soon for Merit but that's not to say the kiss wasn't amazing.  I almost feel bad for Jonah because really how could he compare to a Master.  He likes Merit so much but there is no reciprocation and they agree to keep things platonic.  But they still have to work together, with Ethan gone he is now Merit's partner for all intents and purposes.  She rolls the idea in her mind of joining the Red Guard now that she has no ties to anything (I will not spoil how that happened because you just have to read it).  I think something more will happen between the two, I almost hope for it, just to cause a little more drama.

I don't want to give too much away because I know sometimes when I read reviews it gives some aspects of the books I wish I discovered on my own.  Let's just say it gets very hectic before it gets quite in the end.  There were some parts I knew were going to happen and others I was pleasantly surprised.  The reunion at the end wasn't enough for me though.  I needed, no, I wanted to have more.  I needed it to be taken slowly and not rushed to finish the book off.  But all in all I'm happy and I can't wait to see what happens next! Watch out, cause they are going to find you wherever you are!!

2. If I Stay by Gayle Forman - I've heard good things about this and another book in the series came out, I will get to it soon I'm sure.

3. Trylle Trilogy by Amanda Hocking, it's about trolls, I've never read a book about trolls, so it lost promising.

4. Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz - just looks like another good vampire series that I just haven't been able to get into but I have them available.

5. The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa.  With the new books coming out it just makes me want to read the series even more.

6. The Immortals Series by Alyson Noel.  I love the covers and I'll get to them eventually, I know i will.  Plus I really want to read the ones about Riley Bloom.  I understand they are a spinoff.

7. The Seven Kingdoms series by Kristin Cashore.  The books just intrigue me.

8. Before I fall by Lauren Oliver.  I've tried to start reading this book many many times, but something keeps stopping me and I never make it past the first few pages.  I will read this through.

9. Any of the Jaz Sparks books by Jennifer Rardin.  I've heard they don't need to be read in order, so that's always a plus I have a lot of them but haven't had the time.

Musing Monday

MUSING MONDAYS… is a weekly event where MizB at Should be Reading will ask a book/reading-related question, and you answer with your own thoughts on the topic.

This week’s musing asks…

Are you currently collecting any authors? Why?

Do you have all of their books? If not, why not?

Did you buy all the books in the collection at the same time, or did you buy a book here, a book there? Have you actually read all of the collection? If not, why not?

I do actually collect some authors.  For example I have all the original Twilight Series and The Hose by Stephanie Meyer.  I also have every single book by Sarah Dessen.  I don't have all their books but I have the entire House of Night Series by PC and Kristen Cast.  Hmm what else do I have the Uglies series I thought those were really great books.  This is physical in my hand books in regards to my Kindle I have a million books not literally but I might one day.

I usually buy the books when they come out, as I'm sure I've been dying to read them to see what happens or what happens next.

I've read every single one of these books and I would read more if they had it.  (HON's new book is next on my tbr list!)

2012 TBR PILE Reading Challenge

Welcome to 2012 TBR PILE Reading Challenge!!!

Evie at Bookish is hosting a new challenge for next year, I think it's a brilliant idea and we should all sign up.  Here's the challenge:

We all have those books. We buy them, win them, they're gifted to us.. Then we put them up on a bookshelf and there they stay, collecting dust, waiting for the time when we'll finally decide to pick them up..

That's so true and so sad because then all those great books just sit there unread.  So that's the main reason I'm doing this challenge because I have so many books I just know they are great but haven't had a chance to read them and this is my chance.

Levels:

1-10 - A Firm Handshake
11-20 - A Friendly Hug
21-30 - A Sweet Kiss
31-40 - Love At First Sight
41-50 - Married With Children

For right now I will say I'm giving a Firm Handshake due to the fact that there are so many great books coming out this year I don't want to get in over my head even though I'm sure I'll probably read more than the 10 for this challenge.  Sometimes life gets in the way of good reading.

Books I've Chosen to read:

It's too early to decide I have to see what I can get done before the challenge starts then I'm all over this.

Friday 5!

Hello, and welcome to this week’s Friday 5 hosted here! Please copy these questions to your web space. Answer the questions there; then leave a comment below so we’ll all know where to check out your responses.

1.What do you usually take to the beach?
Other than the essentials towel, flip flops, sunblock.  I always bring my Kindle so I can lay out in the sun and get some reading done.  I love the beach but I hate the sand, if I could have a beach without sand that would be a beautiful thing, or maybe just have the sand be non sticky in all places know what i mean.
2.What do you find essential for a trip to the mall?
Money.  That's it.

3.What’s something you take to the ballgame?
I don't really do ball games I don't find them that interesting really.  No sports participating in my future.  Not on purpose by choice anyway. ha ha

4.What do you take to the movies?
Just myself and a companion.  I don't bring anything although I have in the past bought stuff like soda when I used to drink it and candy of course.  But now I don't even bother I buy some nachos and a big Slurpee and I'm good to go.

5.This one may not have broad enough a relevance, but what do you take when you go to the symphony?
I don't go to symphonies, but i do go to the theater to watch musicals on Broadway.  I usually have shopping bags with me because I like to shop before hand.  But I've realized that you have to have cash on you or you can't buy those fancy show related named drinks they have available.  I always get one just so I can have the cup for a souvenir.

Booking Through Thursday

A weekly meme about (mostly) books and reading. Hosted at Booking Through Thursday.

Todays question is:

E-readers like the Kindle and iPad are sweeping the nation … do you have one? Do you like it? Do you find it changes your reading/buying habits? If you don’t have one, do you plan to?

I have a Kindle, I actually got it for Christmas last year, and I abuse the **** out of it.  I love it, it's the main source of my reading.  Yes I would love to have all the books for real but in reality I've run out of space but I luckily on the occasion get some real books I can hold in my hand.  The kindle is convenient and easy to carry around, I don't have to worry about bending pages.  And now with the Kindle Fire coming out!!!! I can't wait and well I hope I actually get that for Christmas (it's on my wish list) because I think I wore my Kindle out.  I think because of having an ereader I find it easier to read and because of this I read a lot more than I used to.  I would recommend it to anyone and if they were cheaper I'd even give them out to friends and family for Christmas:-)

This is a weekly book meme hosted by Should Be Reading.
To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently Reading:

I am currently in between two books. I'm reading Chicagoland Vampires newest installment Drink Deep by Chloe Neil. And then I'm trying to read Silence the newest book in the series Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. Both books are really good although I will admit I'm still in the very early stage of Silence and well into Drink Deep. I just need to see what happens at the end and it's making me anxious.

Recently Finished Reading:

Just finished reading Possess by Gretchen and the second in the series Demon Trapper's Daughter - Soul Thief.  Which let me just say both were great books.  I can't wait for the next Demon Trapper's Daughter book, and like I said in my review I totally think Possess could become a series.

Reading Next:

This is what I'll be reading next and let me tell you I can't wait to see how they turn out.  They are both part of a series.  The first is Crossed the anticipated continuation of Matched.  I hope she finds him, that's all I'm saying.  The next is the continuation of the House of Night Series, Destined.  These books they always leave the best cliffhangers that's for sure.  I want to see how Stevie Rae and Rephaims relationship continues. Eek can't wait!

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature is great because everyone loves lists, including me.

This week's Top Ten is:
Ten Books That I Read That Were Outside Of My Comfort Zone

This was hard because I don't think there is anything that I've read completely that was outside my comfort zone. I did receive this one book and thought let me try and read it and well after the first few pages I had to put it away. Keep it out of the reach of unsuspecting minors and yeah it's still there. So I have only attempted to read one book that was out of my comfort zone.

Description:
A brand-new erotic anthology about losing your inhibitions in paradise from the next queen of steamy romance.(USA Today bestselling author Julianne MacLean)

Welcome to the O Spa, an exclusive island resort where legend has it that a magical elixir can turn every woman's wildest fantasy into a delicious reality.
Danielle, Lauren, and Abby have come to this secluded island paradise for a fling, not realizing the spa has a rehabilitation center for injured soldiers or that their boldest desires are about to be realized.

I think probably cause it is an erotic book and well I'm just used to that sweet innocent love and this one just jumped right into it.  Not that there is anything wrong with it I think if i was to read it again it wouldn't be so bad, probably just when i tried i wasn't in the mood.

This week’s musing asks…

Other than for school, do you read books to learn how to do something? What was/were the topic(s)?

I've read books on scrap booking to get some ideas and learn new techniques.  Pretty much anything have to do with the craft world I'll check it.  At least browse through them to see what new things I can create.  Other than that, no I don't think I've read any books on learning how to do something.  That's what the Internet is for :-P

Review: Possess

Possess
By Gretchen McNeil
Release Date: August 23, 2011

Product Description:
Fifteen-year-old Bridget Liu just wants to be left alone: by her mom, by the cute son of a local police sergeant, and by the eerie voices she can suddenly and inexplicably hear. Unfortunately for Bridget, it turns out the voices are demons – and Bridget has the rare ability to banish them back to whatever hell they came from.

Terrified to tell people about her new power, Bridget confides in a local priest who enlists her help in increasingly dangerous cases of demonic possession. But just as she is starting to come to terms with her new power, Bridget receives a startling message from one of the demons. Now Bridget must unlock the secret to the demons' plan before someone close to her winds up dead – or worse, the human vessel of a demon king.

Review:

I really wanted to read this book because I thought the cover was just gorgeous, seriously just look at it.  Reminds me of Carrie 2 at the end when all her veins start turning black.  So the book was good, I wasn't disappointed with it at all.  This could be the great beginning to a trilogy, yes I know not everything needs to be but there can definitely be a continuation to this story.

So we meet Bridget who is not so popular, she only hangs out with three people, her gay best friend Hector, Peter who is in love with her and Brad who may or may not be into Hector who knows.  So being the outsider she doesn't really think she's that special except for the fact that apparently she can banish demons.  She doesn't know why but has help from the priest at her school to help gain her knowledge in what this all means.  He always seems so excited about this, enter Father Santos another priest sent from the Vatican who puts doubt in Bridget's mind about who or what she is.  At one of the exorcisms or banishment as they like to call it in the book, one of the demons has a message for her.  It takes her a while to decipher it but her brother a second to decipher the second message from the other demons "Don't trust the priest".  She goes back and forth on which of the two priest she should trust.

Throughout all of this there is a love interest - but i have to say it felt rushed and pushed, like there was no real connection and they just start making out.  As if you know the book needed a love interest so this person was written in and there it was.  I didn't feel like they were a couple or whatever you would like to call them, it just wasn't there for me.  As if that character really didn't have a part in the book even though he did, he should have been more developed.  Back to the message so basically a big bad demon is coming and it's up to her to banish it.  The truth about which priest she shouldn't trust comes out and all hell breaks loose, but she finally let's herself go and accepts who and what she is.

I would recommend this book.  It's always great to dive into other worldly things.  Almost made me feel like I could see shadows that weren't there he he, great read for the Halloween season.

But on her first night in her new home, Isobel starts to fear that it isn’t only her life that’s unraveling—her sanity might be giving way too. Because either Isobel is losing her mind, just like her artist father did before her, or she’s seeing ghosts. Either way, Isobel’s fast on her way to being the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. This feature is great because everyone loves lists, including me.

This week's Top Ten is:

4.  Something Maybe - by Elizabeth Scott (when he confessed finally it was perfect)
5.  Twilight - by Stephanie Meyer (this is what got me back into reading)
6.  Just Listen - by Sarah Dessen (the title alone is enough for me)
7.  This Lullaby - by Sarah Dessen (another great story)
8.  The Host - by Stephanie Meyer (I could NOT stop thinking of this book I still do sometimes)
9.  Speak - by Laurie Halse Anderson (classic)

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following: •Grab your current read •Open to a random page •Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page •BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) •Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

Here's my teaser for the week:

I watched him warily. I moved deeper in my memory, looking down even the darkest and oldest corridors, but his face wasn’t there. I had no recollection of him. And I wanted to remember him. I wanted something—anything—familiar to cling to, so I could make sense of a world that, from my vantage point, had been twisted to distortion.
