Random Thoughts and Meme's
I can’t believe it’s already May. I feel like I was just in Florida on
Christmas vacation! Craziness, anyway
there are a lot of things being celebrated this month. Such as:
Mother’s Day
Memorial Day
Cynthia’s Birthday
(My baby will be turning 3!)
Cinco de Mayo (I
really really love Mexican food so I’m going all out)
I’m sure there are many other special days, special weeks in
May but I can’t really list them all, either way there is a lot going on this
month. Oh yeah and for those of you who
are in high school (I miss school) Prom is this month as well. Mind you I never went to mine cause my
boyfriend at the time (who was not in high school) was leaving out of the country
the same day as prom, so I didn’t get to go.
Oh wells I’m sure I didn’t miss much.
Funny story – yesterday I was watching Haunted Collector,
well my lil munchkin decides to go pull one of the blinds off the window, and
she was successful at it. I go to her
and say did you break the blinds, she says no looks to the side and says the
man did it. I said what man, and she’s
like the one over there. (Need I remind
you that I’m watching a show with ghosts on it), and I’m like I don’t see
anyone there. She’s like yeah the man in
the car and he’s going like this and she pretends to be moving the steering
wheel. I say ok and have to walk away
because she slightly freaked me out. You
know kids are more perceptive than grownups; after all they are not jaded with
life experiences. Needless to say I tried
very hard not to think of the man standing in my room as per my three year old.
I’ve been reading a lot of New Adult books lately, and I
have to say I’m really enjoying the genre because it deals with College life or
life after college but not too far along.
It reminds me of the good old days when everything was much
simpler. Anyway I have to say I really
do like this genre a lot. So any
suggestions you have on books I should check out make sure you throw them my
way.
I missed a lot of things this week because I was busy. So I’m doing them here right now just for the
hell of it. Here’s a teaser ala teaser
Tuesday of a book I’m currently reading:
“Wait, because of the recession?”
“The boy recession,” Hunter
corrects me, kicking a stick toward the fire. His sneakers have no laces in
them.
“What is the boy recession?”
“You know how all those dudes left
our school? Like, the football guys? Eugene calls it the boy recession.”
“And he thinks he has a chance with
Bobbi because…”
“He thinks girls are gonna, like,
take what they can get, now that there aren’t that many dudes hanging around.”
The Boy Recession by Flynn Meaney (Kindle Locations 519-524).
Little Brown Books for Young Readers. Kindle Edition.
And then there’s my book I’m waiting for. I’m waiting for a lot of books but here are
some specific ones I’m really looking forward to:
by
Jessi Kirby
Release Date May 14, 2013
Seventeen-year-old Parker Frost has never taken the road less traveled. Valedictorian and quintessential good girl, she’s about to graduate high school without ever having kissed her crush or broken the rules. So when fate drops a clue in her lap—one that might be the key to unraveling a town mystery—she decides to take a chance.
Julianna Farnetti and Shane Cruz are remembered as the golden couple of Summit Lakes High—perfect in every way, meant to be together forever. But Julianna’s journal tells a different story—one of doubts about Shane and a forbidden romance with an older, artistic guy. These are the secrets that were swept away with her the night that Shane’s jeep plunged into an icy river, leaving behind a grieving town and no bodies to bury.
Reading Julianna’s journal gives Parker the courage to start to really live—and it also gives her reasons to question what really happened the night of the accident. Armed with clues from the past, Parker enlists the help of her best friend, Kat, and Trevor, her longtime crush, to track down some leads. The mystery ends up taking Parker places that she never could have imagined. And she soon finds that taking the road less traveled makes all the difference.
And then there's stuff on my shelf that I need to get on, my friend actually read this book and she told me I have to pick it up already because it was good. Have you read it? What do you think of it?

This week I'm "Waiting on":
Falling For Summer
By Kailin Gow
Release Date: November 30, 2012
Series: Loving Summer (1.9)
Description:
Love hits you when you least expect it, grabs you, sucks you in whole, and twists you around until you could hardly breathe. Love hurts like a sucker punch, that’s both glorious and beautiful. Falling for Summer was like that for me, every time. – Nat Donovan
The Donovan Brothers
Two brothers as gorgeous as they are dangerous.
Nat Donovan, the older more responsible brother with the passion of a starving man. Knows what he wants, but knows he can’t have it without giving up everything.
Drew Donovan, the really bad boy, the black sheep, the one who has a devil-may-care attitude, wants what he wants, but knows he would have to go through the ones he loves to have it.
Nat and Drew Donovan has known Summer Jones since they were kids. She had always been the girl next door who was best friends with their little sister Rachel and was cool enough to play with the guys. Now Summer is all grown up, gorgeous, and scorchingly sexy without even knowing it. Responsible older brother Nat, who had always tried to keep their friendship platonic, now can’t stop thinking of her and wanting more. Carefree Drew, who had always had a crush on Summer, but knew Summer’s heart was already taken, can only fall further for her. But no one had anticipated what would happen between the time the Donovan brothers fell for her and now. No one knew how hard they would fall.

This week I'm "Waiting on":
The Art of Wishing
By: Lindsay Ribar
Release Date: March 21, 2013
Description:
He can grant her wishes, but only she can save his life.
Margo McKenna has a plan of attack for everything, from landing the lead in her high school musical to dealing with her increasingly absent parents. But when she finds herself in possession of a genie's ring and the opportunity to make three wishes, she doesn't know what to do. Especially since Oliver—not blue-skinned, not bottle-dwelling, but a genie nonetheless—can see more than what she's willing to show him. With one peek into her mind, he can see the wishes that even Margo herself doesn't know she wants.
But Oliver comes with more than just mind-reading abilities, a flair for magic, and the prettiest eyes Margo's ever seen. Someone from his past is hunting him—someone bent on killing him, along with all the other genies in the world, for the sake of honor. And as Margo soon discovers, it will take more than three wishes to save him.
A whole lot more.

Doesn't this sound like such a cute book. I haven't read anything about Genies since oh I don't know Aladdin maybe haha.

This week I'm "Waiting on":
Star Crossed
By Jennifer Echols
Release Date: February 26, 2013
Description:
Wendy Mann loves her job rescuing celebrities from public relations scrapes. She grew up with nothing, and now she’s drawn to glitz, glamour, and a lighthearted lifestyle. She speaks her mind, so she’s just the tough cookie to tell stars the truth about how other people see them, even when they don’t want to hear it. But after six years at the top of her game, Wendy crosses the line. A star she was sent to save rebels against her and nearly gets her fired. To salvage her job, she must rehabilitate the career of a singing starlet with a penchant for posting inappropriate photos of herself and arguing online with her famous ex. Problem is, the ex is represented by Wendy’s arch nemesis from college, the hot and haughty Daniel Blackstone. And both stars are scheduled for a collision course on national television, broadcast live from Las Vegas.
Daniel’s uneasy when he hears Wendy Mann from his firm’s most hated competitor has been brought in to revive the career of his client’s ex-girlfriend. Daniel must win at any cost. And if he has to seduce Wendy to smooth the way to their partnership, he’s willing to sacrifice himself for the cause. But Daniel doesn’t count on the scorching heat between them—and when they get to Vegas, all bets are off. ******************** I may have done this one before, but the cover just came out and I adore Jennifer Echols so I'm picking her upcoming book!

This week I'm "Waiting on":
What Happens Next
By: Colleen Clayton
Release Date: October 9, 2012
Description:
How can you talk about something you can’t remember?
Before the ski trip, sixteen-year-old Cassidy “Sid” Murphy was a cheerleader (at the bottom of the pyramid, but still...), a straight-A student, and a member of a solid trio of best friends. When she ends up on a ski lift next to handsome local college boy, Dax Windsor, she’s thrilled; but Dax takes everything from Sid—including a lock of her perfect red curls—and she can’t remember any of it.
Back home and unable to relate to her old friends, Sid drops her college prep classes and takes up residence in the A/V room with only Corey “The Living Stoner” Livingston for company. But as she gets to know Corey (slacker, baker, total dreamboat), Sid finds someone who truly makes her happy. Now, if she can just shake the nightmares and those few extra pounds, everything will be perfect... or so she thinks.
