Blog Tour: Loving Eden By T.A. Foster - Review

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00024] Loving Eden
By: T.A. Foster
Release Date: September 25, 2014
Series:

Description:
Have you ever thought of packing up everything you own and moving halfway across the country? I’m talking about leaving your entire life behind—friends, family, school—with no turning back. No? Me either, but that was before a week of spring break changed my life forever. Before I did something I never thought I’d do at twenty-two. Before I fell in love with Grey.

Sometimes happily ever after isn’t always what you think it will be.

Review:
This is the continuation of the story of Grey and Eden.  Sometimes making big leaps of faith will pay off and sometimes they don’t.  it’s not easy taking the next step with anyone, it’s not all peachy keen like they make it seem on TV and T.A. Foster explores the hardships of moving on to the next level of a relationship.

Eden has made the move to Texas to be with Grey, that’s a big step and a scary step at that, but Eden has hope that this is all they need to be together in the same location to make their relationship stronger.  They will both be working in the hotel together and of course living together.  It’s definitely hard and at first things seems to go pretty smooth but then reality sets in and they are thrown through a few unexpected loops. There are new characters introduced to the series and then there are the classic characters that you couldn’t help but adore from the last book.

I can’t stress enough how hard it is moving in with someone and learning all their different nuances.  Even though they were going through a difficult time you could see how much they cared about one another and that’s what helped them throughout the whole book, even when their honeymoon phase didn’t last but only a week before reality walked in.  Literally.

Overall the book was short and sweet and made you think about things a little more.  Their relationship is stronger than anything though and you really saw how evident that was throughout the book.  I love the cover and the continuation of the story because you always wonder what happens after the couple seems to move off into the happily ever after.  Great cute quick read and you should definitely get to know these two characters and of course their friends.

Review: Before We Fall by Courtney Cole

Before We Fall
By: Courtney Cole
Release Date: December 3, 2013
Series: Beautifully Broken #3

Description:

Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...

For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.

23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.

Until she meets Dominic.

After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.

Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.

Sometimes, before we fall... we fly.

Review:
First of all let me start by saying that I read the first book in this series and I liked it but I never really felt connected to the book so I didn't bother with the second, but after reading this third book which is eons past the first book writing wise I’m in love.  The connection was undeniable between me and the characters, I felt for them through and through even through all the perversion, excitement and drama this book went well past my expectations and I’m happy I had the opportunity to read it.  I will definitely be reading the second book in this series and continue reading more from Courtney Cole in the future.

We meet Jacey and Dominic who couldn't be more opposite each other but still ran in the same crowds due to work and family they meet up unexpectedly.  One thing leads to another and they get caught in a sticky situation where they are forced to spend time with one another.  Throughout this time Jacey sees something inside Dominic that no one notices, she believes she can fix him because she thinks she can fix anyone, very intuitive.  Through all their perverse situations, as interesting as they were there was some honesty and rawness that came out between them, in small bits and pieces at first.  They are both very much broken but together they can get through it, if they would just admit it to one another.

There are a lot of family situations and misunderstandings that go on in this book but with a little patience and understanding things come undone.  Truths come out and now all there is to do is to heal.  It’s hard and it was definitely heartbreaking hearing the back story and what really happened even if everyone didn't have all the pieces together until they all got together it really was heartbreaking; I definitely teared up for these characters.  But together, the main word here the truth came out and things seem to get better.  All it takes is time and forgiveness.

This book was entertaining from the very beginning to the very end, there wasn't a moment where I was bored and there wasn't a moment where I didn't wonder what was really going on with each of the characters.  Courtney Cole has me hooked on this story and definitely on this family and group of friends.  I can’t wait to find out what happens next because even in the next book I definitely felt a little something for the character that book will be based upon.

I love this cover, and this book.  Make sure you give this series a chance because it will be worth it.  By the way this can definitely be read as a standalone but it will definitely make you wonder about the other characters in the book as well.

Disclaimer:
I received this book from NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing), so that I may give my honest opinion and a review. Whether it is good or not please do not let it discourage you from purchasing/reading the book yourself and forming your own opinion. What might be good for me may not be good for you and vice versa. With that said, Happy Reading Everyone!!!

Review:

This was definitely an interesting concept of a book that had a disastrous ending if things didn’t work out, so I was really intrigued on how this was going to play out.  This is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Burstein and I liked it, it was quick and easy read with an interesting story line.

We meet Kate a 29 yr. old who has hit rock bottom in her life when her married boyfriend dumps her and fires her on the same day.  She’s out to redeem herself and for whatever reason the only way she thinks she can do that is by going back to college and finishing it, starting as a second semester freshman and pretending to be a real 18/19 year old freshman.  That right there is just too much, but good for her for even passing at that age to be younger, so here starts our story and bring in a sexy RA who is also quite troubled and trying to run from his past.  These two were meant for each other, even if they have a couple years difference they have the same issue and that’s running from the past and trying to forgive themselves.

Alcoholism is a serious thing, especially during college.  There are a lot of things that can happen that will happen in an instant so always remember to keep your wits about you.  This book definitely touches upon that slightly and it’s not always if you are doing the wrong thing sometimes it’s also if you don’t stop it, there are always repercussions.

Overall there were some definite sexy scenes in this book but I felt slightly rushed in their relationship, almost as if it was too easy.  Could it have been because Kate was older and knew what she wanted?  I don’t know, maybe.  In the end I enjoyed reading this book and would definitely check out another one by this author.

I really, really love the cover, even if that’s not how I personally pictured the couple still.  It’s eye catching and I would definitely be interested in what is going to happen to these two so I would pick it up.  I mean really think about it, who wouldn’t want to do college all over again, although if I didn’t have to worry about grades I would definitely go more for the socialness of college.  Good book.

Interview with Grey and Eden

shutterstock_182104106

When we last saw you two, Grey had made a trip to North Carolina to deliver a lost suitcase. What have you two been up to since then?

Eden: I graduated from Carolina in May and then spent the summer in Chapel Hill with Taylor.

Grey: Same ole, same ole for me. Just been working at the Palm Palace, trying to keep the summer guests happy.

No summer trips across state lines?

Eden: After Grey’s visit we talked on the phone all the time. Hours everyday.

Grey: And texted.

Eden: Right, and texted, but once we made the decision I was moving to South Padre, there was just too much to do to get ready to squeeze in a trip.

And how did that decision happen? Eden, did Grey ask you to move?

Eden: I think we realized right away that we aren’t the kind of couple who handles long distance well. I wanted to be with him all the time. The timing is actually perfect. I just graduated and I hadn’t found a job yet, so it made the most sense that I go to Texas. Besides, I love it. I couldn’t ask Grey to give up the Palm and move to North Carolina.

Grey: Yeah, I did ask her, but it was a mutual decision. We both wanted that from the beginning. And she’s completely right. We work best when we’re together.

All of  that sounds intense. When is the big move?

Eden: Well, I had to finish out my lease and then my parents insisted I spend some time with them before moving. So, I’ll be headed to Texas the first part of September.

Grey, are you flying up to help Eden move?

Grey: I wish, but she wants to do it on her own. I’ll be getting things ready for her to move down.

Eden: It’s not that I don’t want Grey on the trip, but it’s important to me I do this on my own. I hope that makes sense. Of course my parents think I’m crazy.

Moving in together is never an easy adjustment. Any last minute jitters before the big move?

Grey: Absolutely none.

Eden: Aww, that’s sweet. I’m a little worried about where I’m going to fit all my clothes and shoes, but I think we can figure something out.

Grey: Darlin’, you don’t have to worry about that. I have a surprise planned.

Eden: Surprise? You have to tell me now. Did you add another closet in your room?

Grey: You’ll see when you get to Padre.

Sounds like you two have a lot of exciting things ahead of you. Good luck on the move!

Blog Tour Review - Right Kind of Wrong by Chelsea Fine

Right Kind of Wrong
By Chelsea Fine
Release Date: September 2, 2014
Series: Finding Fate #3

Description:
Sometimes wrong can feel oh so right . . .

Jenna Lacombe needs complete control, whether it’s in the streets . . . or between the sheets. So when she sets out on a solo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she’s beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. Ever since they shared a wild night together last year, he’s been trying to strip away her defenses one by one. He claims he’s just coming along to keep her safe-but what’s not safe for her is prolonged exposure to the tattooed hottie.

Jack can’t get Jenna out from under his skin. She makes him feel alive again after his old life nearly destroyed him-and losing her is not an option. Now Jack’s troubles are catching up to him, and he’s forced to return to his hometown in Louisiana. But when his secrets put them both in harm’s way, Jenna will have to figure out how far she’s willing to let love in . . . and how much she already has.

Review:

Chelsea Fine did another great job in bringing two people together.  I especially enjoyed the revisiting of old characters from this series and showing how they are still very much in love.  It’s unique finding a group of friends who randomly interact with one another but just those short moments have made them friends forever.  I think it has something to do with Ellen (the owner of the Inn).  Regardless of how these characters are all connected it made for a great story between Jack and Jenna.  These two were made for each other.

We meet Jenna who is moving in with Pixie but gets a call from home and has to drive back there for a quick visit, of course home is New Orleans and it’s not a cheap flight so she decides to drive there.  In comes Jack, literally taking a seat in her car without her permission saying oh hey I’m coming along for the ride.  This was truly a great scene in the book.  Nonetheless, he makes it on the trip, the dynamic of their relationship is kind of awkward because they’ve been together in the past but it really is all driven by fear and nothing else.  Fear of committing to something and having it taken away from you or losing out on your dreams.  This is something many people go through but sometimes you just have to take a chance in life, otherwise how are you really going to live it?

It was fun seeing how much Jenna wanted Jack in this book but still kept holding herself back, I’m sure it wasn’t fun for Jack but it was entertaining to see.  Sometimes things aren’t just black and white there are some gray areas in between.  I loved seeing both Jenna and jack’s families, they couldn’t be more different but still the same, because it’s all about love and family.

This was a sweet book, a great addition to the series, a wonderful insight into what is going on with past characters and an overall great quick and fun read.  There are some deliciously hot and bothered scenes in this book and then there are some great friend/relationship/family moments as well.  I enjoyed the book and will continue to read more books by Chelsea Fine because they really keep me going.  I like the cover as well very intimate and close although I don’t remember seeing tattoos on the characters on the cover and I pictured Jenna and Jack very tattooed up.  Just saying J Two head strong characters make for a great book (throw in a motorcycle, illegal activities, some voodoo and a great romance and you’ve got yourself a great book!).

About the Author:
Chelsea lives in Phoenix, Arizona, where she spends most of her time writing stories, painting murals, and avoiding housework at all costs. She's ridiculously bad at doing dishes and claims to be allergic to laundry. Her obsessions include: superheroes, coffee, sleeping-in, and crazy socks. She lives with her husband and two children, who graciously tolerate her inability to resist teenage drama on TV and her complete lack of skill in the kitchen.

Review: Isla and the Happily Ever After

Isla and the Happily Ever After
By: Stephanie Perkins
Release Date: August 14, 2014
Series: Anna and the French Kiss #3

Description:
Love ignites in the City That Never Sleeps, but can it last?

Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.

Featuring cameos from fan-favorites Anna, Étienne, Lola, and Cricket, this sweet and sexy story of true love—set against the stunning backdrops of New York City, Paris, and Barcelona—is a swoonworthy conclusion to Stephanie Perkins’s beloved series.

Review:

The much anticipated third book in the Stephanie Perkins series Anna and the French Kiss – Isla and the Happily Ever After has finally landed on my lap and I can honestly say that Stephanie Perkins again has not disappointed me in the very least.  We still have the amazing setting of France and the US (NY) and some amazingly artistic and different characters.  There is love, confusion, friendship and a beautiful appearance from all previous characters which brings this series full circle.

We are reintroduced to Josh and Isla.  (You can pronounce my name.” Most people call me Iz-la, but I’m Eye-la. Island without the nd.) Isla has been in love with Josh forever but he’s never considered her at all until that one loopy day they meet at Kismet in NY and the next day when there is a bit of a misunderstanding with Isla’s best friend Kurt.   It was all very cute how they meet up and finally talk again after the one time they did many years ago and it’s also fun to watch as the rediscover one another in different ways and Josh learns to love Kurt as Isla does, or at least be a good friend to him.

Josh is very set on his plan for the future and Isla is lost in the wind, unknowing where her future will lead her and what she will be doing but the two of them feed off each other and again it’s very cute and adorable.  The one thing that got me the most about Josh was his art, his passion and his love for it.  I wish we could see his graphic novel (well maybe not all the parts, you’ll see what I’m talking about) but I can imagine a truly talented young artist thoroughly exposing himself on these blank pages.  Isla on the other hand is really just trying to find who she is, and it is okay to know that you don’t have a plan for the future because one day it will come to you.

This was a very good ending to the series and bought all the friends together in the end.  Overall I really enjoyed the up and down relationship between Josh and Isla and the secondary characters of her sister and best friend Kurt.  It was interesting to see the different dynamics between all of them.  The settings again I could only imagine are as beautiful as described in this book and one day I will make it there.  The storyline was very good in that it was not all quick and fast love but there was development and there was a bit of turmoil which always makes thing interesting but I think what I came out with in the end was to remember to believe in yourself, you are as worthy as the person next to you.  Great story, the cover is okay but it’s still very eye catching.

Happy Couple
CHAPTER ONE

GREY
Room twenty-four. I looked at it one last time. The day I moved in here wasn’t a happy day. Pops had died, left me the Palm Palace, and I didn’t have anywhere else on the island to stay. Somehow it became home. A small, one room spot by the ocean had become home.
There wasn’t much to pack: work clothes, a few tools, my boots. I had already hauled most of it next door, but there were still a few boxes in storage. I would try to get those before Eden arrived. I looked at my phone. She should be here in four or five hours.
I shook my head. I hated the idea that she was on the road by herself. She was stubborn. I knew that the first minute I laid eyes on her, but this was crazier than hell. Driving all the way from Chapel Hill to Padre was damn near reckless, but I couldn’t talk her out of it. She said it had something to do with proving that she was moving for the right reasons. If it meant that much to her I knew better than to stand in her way.
I pulled the door behind me and turned the heavy brass key in the lock to secure the room. Maybe one day I’d be able to afford those fancy keyless entries, but that was far off. I was lucky the Palm was still open. It had been a rough year trying to keep it afloat, but Eden breezed in here and showed me what was possible. She had all kinds of creative ideas about marketing, advertising, and services we could add. It was one of the things I loved about her—she saw past the peeling paint and the rusty doorknobs. She saw the Palm the same way I did and she loved it. She loved every last pink and blue tile, the way the boardwalk creaked when you walked on it, and how we probably had the only pool on the island without a diving board. That girl was something else.
I didn’t take it lightly that we were moving in together. Who could? Last time I tried this Laura and I barely left on speaking terms. But that was different. That was Laura and her obsession with med school. This was Eden and everything about her made me realize it was the right decision. Sure I was nervous, but I’d never tell her that. I didn’t want things with us to end up like they did the last time I gave this a shot. I was going to make sure it wouldn’t.
That’s why I had to surprise her with the beach cottage. I couldn’t let her move all the way here and start off in room twenty-four. We’d probably get on each other’s nerves faster than the tide changed on the beach, but besides that I wanted her to know I took this seriously. The blue house next door meant something. It wasn’t a cramped shoebox where we’d have to split a closet and a dresser combo. It was a place that could be ours, a place we could work on together, and a place where we could figure out the future.
I shoved the key in my pocket. I had to get it back to the office. My phone rang.
“Hey, Marin. What’s up?”
“I just talked to Eden. She’s in Louisiana.”
“You didn’t ruin the surprise did you?” I had trusted everyone on the island with the beach house secret, but deep down knew someone would let it slip. Things had a way of getting out around here.
Marin laughed. “No, she has no idea. She thinks you are bunking up in that cute little room of yours at the Palm.”
“Thanks, girl. Did she sound ok? I’m trying not to bug her.” What I really wanted to do was call her every hour and find out where she was, but that would contradict her plan. I managed to respect it since she got on the road.
“She sounded like a girl who can’t wait to see you. I’ll let you know when she get’s to the bridge, ok?”
“Alright. Thanks. I appreciate you checking up on her for me. I don’t want her to think I don’t think she can handle it.” I opened the door to the stuffy office.
“She can handle it. Don’t worry about her, Grey. She’ll be here tonight. Call you later.”
“Thanks.”
Marin hung up and I tossed my phone on the cart. I had a few rooms to check before I made my way to the cottage to get things set up. Eden would be here tonight. This would be her office. I was handing over the books, the reservations, and all of the marketing to her. It was probably a bigger step than sharing a bathroom, but I knew I didn’t trust anyone else with Pop’s legacy like I trusted Eden.
As I shoved the cart out of the back door, I heard the wind kick up on the beach. Eden and I were moving in together. I knew after tonight my life would never be the same, and there was no turning back. Good thing I didn’t want to.

T.A. has an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a graduate degree in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University. Blog Tour - Review: Make it Right by Megan Erickson

Make it Right
By:
Release Date: September 9, 2014
Series: Bowler University #2

Description:
Max Payton lives by two rules:
Size and strength win any fight, and never show weakness.

When a rash of assaults sends Bowler University for a tail spin, Max volunteers to help teach a self-defense class. One of the other instructors is the beautiful pixie-faced girl he keeps butting heads with…and who challenges everything he thought he knew.

Lea Travers avoids guys like Max - cocky jocks who assume she's fragile because of a disability caused by a childhood accident. She likes to be in control, and something about being with Max makes her feel anything but. But during the moments he lets his guard down, Lea sees a soul as broken inside as she is outside. Trusting him is a whole other problem...

When the assaults ramp up and hit close to home, Lea and Max must learn, before it’s too late, that true strength can come from vulnerability…and giving in to trust is sometimes the only way to make things right.

Review:
I was very excited to get a chance to review the second book in this series.  It was so much fun to revisit some characters from the first book and explore some of them even deeper.  The author did a great job discovering the different depths of Max who was shown to be such a not good person in the first book.  I was excited to read about him and it was a beautiful thing to see him find himself throughout the book.

We are reintroduced to Lea in this book, which is an education major and was friends with Kat and Danica in the first book.  She definitely has trust issues especially from everything that has happened to her in the past and has left her with a permanent limp.  But with trust issues the only thing she accomplishes is closing her from experiencing the world and people as she should.  We are also reintroduced to Max, who even though wasn’t shed in a good light in the first book turns out to be a much deeper person that I would have thought.  There are many different layers to Max and it’s just like peeling an onion, another layer is beneath it.  It takes some time for him to get to the center of his core but when he does, he really does.

We meet more of Max’s and Lea’s family and learn about their pasts and how they became to be the people they are today  but I think the most important thing is the people they become when they get together, because not only do they better each other but they feel freer to be who they really want to be.  Isn’t that why most people go to college, to find out that they are and what they want to be when they finally do grow up, and I can say without a doubt that Max definitely found out who he wants to be in this book.

There are some great scenes in this book both in the bedroom and just with family in general.  I thoroughly enjoyed this from beginning to the very end.  I’m even more excited to finally read more about the final roommate of the guys, Cam.  He’s a mystery that’s had me intrigued since the very first book and his very first appearance, what’s his story?  Ah can’t wait to read that.

Love the cover of this book, very cute, college like and playful.  The setting was a very typical college, but it’s not about the setting in this book it’s all about the characters and they all rocked.  Great writing, very addicting and just an overall great read.  A great continuation of a series and I just know the next one will be just as good if not better.

About Megan

Megan Erickson grew up in a family that averages 5’5” on a good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.

She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.
