Review - Matched

Matched
By Ally Condie
Release Date: November 30, 2010
Series: Matched

Product description:
Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate . . . until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.

The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

Review:
So imagine yourself in a society where everything is chosen for you, what you eat, where you work, what you wear, everything even who you are to spend your life with. Everyone in the society seems to be perfectly fine with the way the system is working. That is until Cassia is matched with her best friend Xander when she looks at his information on her data screen another persons face appears - and it's someone she also knows. Not too long after her grandfather passes away (or is put to rest as people in this dystopian society only live until the age 80) and last thing he tells her that her grandmother would say about this whole match incident - don't you ever wonder. This of course gets her thinking more and more about Ky the other person she saw on the screen. This story shows the connection between Cassia and Ky and how it grows even though they are not supposed to be together. This society is not one I want to belong to that's for sure. I don't want to give any spoilers but all I can say is that I cannot wait for the next book thank goodness it comes out soon. This little courtship between the two of them really has me intrigued, their stolen moments in privacy so sweet and innocent. The ending leads to so many possibilities. We shall wait and see what Ally Condie has in store for us.

Look out for the second book comes out 11/1/11 - Crossed by Ally Condie.
